Handbrake…. commonly referred to as the “emergency brake”…. If you ever pull it with the vehicle in motion then you certainly will encounter an emergency!
With the gearbox strip going on in the back ground, some progress is made on some of other bits n bobs… This time, its the handbrake assembly.
The hand brake , or to give it it’s correct name, the transmission brake, is located on the back of the gearbox. Its activated by a lever in the cab, just next to the drivers right calf muscle (LHD). Hand brakes on “normal” cars utilise the drakes on the rear axle via a cable. (i paraphrase here as I’m sure most modern cars utilise some software to tell the vehicle to keep still… somehow)
