With the paint on the gear cover dried fully, I could put everything back together again. Very satisfying 🙂
Everything laid out
The original cork seal was fine to reuse.
Gear covers and the 3 retaining nuts in place
Next is the spring, washer and the tiny spring clip onto the shaft. I had hoped to avoid the spring clip “singing” elsewhere….. a couple of minutes on all fours shuffling around the garage with a head torch found it again though. Phew.
Spring clip in place
Mounting post block
I gave the spring beneath and the bronze bush a good dose of grease before tightening it down
The wiper motor is fitted from within the cab. Seen here with the guide block installed with a generous dose of sealant. This can be trimmed off once its set.
New stainless steel wiper gate and rubber seal
New wiper arm and wiper blade installed. A bit of trial and error is required to get the wiper arm in the optimal position to get the best sweep on the windscreen
Both motors installed. Looks a lot better 🙂
I’m pleased to say with a thorough clean and re-grease of the moving parts, both motors, not only sound less laboured, the wiper mechanism actually engages and the windscreen wipers work.
The passenger side motor (which I suspect was originally on the drivers side until I took them off) is a bit slower… maybe because of more usage on the drivers side ?
The 110 degree sweep doesn’t clear a great deal of the glass, maybe in the future I’ll upgrade to 125 degree gearing.
Quite looking forward to driving LGL in the the rain now.
