The original glazing is still in pretty good condition as is the sealant, so I’m in no rush to replace it. After a year of storage in the bike shed, all that was needed was a good scrub with some hot soapy water.
Whilst I was at it, I tidied up, tested and fitted the Lucas windscreen motors. On these models, the two windscreen panels have a separate windscreen wiper motor…. the passenger side was even offered as an optional extra!
With some help from my neighbour the windscreen frame is lifted into place
New foam seal fixed to the top of the bulkhead
Windscreen frame in place
Lucas 12V wiper motor
New rubber seal and stainless steel wiper gate
Shaft and threaded rods pushed through the frame (looks like the motor is winking at me)
Seal and retainer in place. A nab of gasket sealant was used to help the seal do its job
New outer seal
Wiper gate, seals and knurled spigot for the wiper arm in place
Lucas motor, ready for wiring and new wiper arms
